SMART MOVES/PMP (perceptual motor program) Our year one children all participate in our Smart Moves Program soon after they start school. This programme is held in the hall, 2-3pm Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The Smart Moves programme develops motor skills through lots of enjoyable, sequenced activities. This very worthwhile programme relies on the support of adult supervisors. Please let us know if you or a whanau member has some time to spare. Room 5 are Term 1, Rooms 2 and 6 are in Term 2
SUN SAFETY Brimmed hats are compulsory in Terms 1 and 4 (no caps). We recommend children wear shirts/tops/dresses that cover their shoulders and preferably have a collar that covers their necks. We also recommend applying sunscreen before school. We appreciate your support in reinforcing the sun safety message. Sunscreen is available in class for the children to apply to themselves. Any children without a brimmed hat in Terms 1 and 4 will be required to stay in the shade of the courtyard during break times, or in the shade under the trees during Fitness or PE.
CLOTHING / FOOTWEAR Children are required to have secure footwear (such as shoes or sandals). Jandals or scuffs / slides are not permitted. Please ensure all items of clothing are labelled / named. It is a good idea to have a change of clothing in school bags in case of accidents, or wet / muddy play.
PARENT HELP If you are interested in parent helping in our classroom, please let me know. We are looking for parents or whanau members who might like to: - return readers to the Resource Room - listen to children read - sharpen pencils, laminate, cut out resources, back children’s work, etc
ASSEMBLIES Whole school assemblies are held every second Friday in the hall at 2.05pm. Pikiake assemblies are held at the the same on the alternate weeks. Parents are more than welcome to attend.
